  • Lead generation does not have to be as difficult as a lot of people make it out to be.  There are a few basics for lead generation that, if followed, will start yielding results for you in your business venture.  Please note that lead generation is not an overnight success story.  It takes time to build up a quality lead list, and in the beginning you’ll probably have a lot of your leads saying “no”.  Don’t worry!  Remember, “Go for NO!”?  Many “no’s” just brings you that closer to a “YES!”.  The law of averages says here that you’ll probably start out with a fair number of no’s.  Once you have a larger lead list, and one that is continually growing, that is when you’ll start to see some success coming from your lead generation efforts.  Don’t expect for it to work miraculously overnight!  Some basics:

    1. Make sure you convey your message clearly and quickly! Make the potential lead WANT to ask for more information.  Giving too much information initially may only serve to confuse them and they won’t end up opting into your lead campaign.
    2. Don’t use industry jargon. Your potential leads may not be in your industry or know anything about your industry, therefore they won’t understand your industry jargon.  Avoid acronyms, etc. that people may not understand.
    3. Put the lead first! What can your business do to help THEM?  They are looking for your product or service for a reason.  Tell them upfront how choosing YOUR product or service will help THEM.
    4. Qualify your leads. Would you rather have 100 QUALIFIED leads or 1,000 UNQUALIFIED leads?  I’ll take 100 qualified leads any day of the week.  Quality, rather than quantity, is key – especially in network marketing businesses.  Many network marketers choose to target people looking for “work from home” opportunities.  While this is great if you have no other alternatives, past experience proves that you’ll end up explaining your network marketing company to someone who was looking for a data entry job or something similar online.  I’d rather talk to 100 network marketers than 1,000 people looking for “work from home” jobs and HOPING that a few of them MIGHT jump onboard my network marketing business (and then HOPING they don’t get discouraged after a month and quit!).
    5. Test and optimize your lead generation campaigns! Don’t get complacent.  If something works, duplicate it!  If something is not working, don’t beat the dead horse!  Get rid of it and look for something new!  Don’t get discouraged!

Hopefully these five basic tips can help you get started on your lead generation campaigns.  After all, lead generation is the key to any successful business.  You can’t just open up a business and HOPE people buy from you.  Get out there and market yourself!  As always, please let me know if I can help you in your ventures in any way!  Make it an awesome day!
