Blogging to “Brand You”

  • One of the most important pieces to this puzzle, and one that will allow you to grow your network marketing business faster than you ever thought possible is your personal blog.  A blog is nothing more than a simple website that allows you to easily post content (articles/thoughts/training systems/general information/etc.) to the web.

    There are several options available:

    http://www.blogger.com

    http://www.typepad.com

    http://www.wordpress.com

Some of these are free and some cost money. What I recommend doing is going with WordPress. WordPress is available with most hosting accounts, or can very easily be installed.  It’s free and it’s very powerful, yet still super easy to use and maintain.

I recommend getting your own domain name – either register your own name, for example williamjones.com or some other name like moremoneynoproblem.com – something that is not specific to your company (I happened to buy both – toddmeady.com and moremoneynoproblem.com).

Remember this blog will be about branding yourself as a leader in the network marketing industry!  You will want to share general information and tips on building a network marketing business. If you want you can also share information about your specific company, but be very careful.  You don’t want to come across as “pushing” your company.  Remember, the point of your blog is to “brand you”, not market your MLM.  If people like YOU as a leader, they’ll join you and your opportunity.

I have one recommendation for web hosting if you don’t already have one. You need a host that’s affordable, yet reliable and one that you can call 24/7 if there’s ever a problem with your site.  There’s lots of “web hosts” out there – everyone has a brother or a cousin or some long lost relative that does “web hosting” – but more than likely they’re just a middleman for a larger company, and if you go through someone else you probably won’t have access to call the actual hosting company yourself if there’s ever a problem.

I use a host called HostGator – you can register your domain and get hosting as well as easily install the free WordPress blogging software as well.

Visit HostGator now by CLICKING HERE!  For just under $10/month you get a full featured hosting account that will be more than powerful enough to host your blogs.

Remember, people typically do not join your business because of the products or how great the company is. They join your business because of your leadership or your marketing system.  They join you when you act like a leader. People are naturally attracted to a leader. They can see themselves joining with you as a team to grow their business.  People join your team because of your marketing system. In your blog posts you can clearly layout your marketing system. As prospects begin to understand the tools available to them, they can then see themselves plugging into this same system to grow their own business.  You will not believe the power of this model! Over time you will have people literally calling you and saying “I don’t care what your business is, I am ready to get started!”.

Doesn’t this sound like a much better system then endlessly bugging your friends and family – or spending countless hours calling expensive leads?

    1. Hey Todd,

WOW, thanks for such an awesome article.
My question is, once I have a blog all set up,
how do I attract people to it to build a following?

I hope to hear back from you at your earliest
      convenience.

      Diane~

    2. Hi Diane, thanks for the comment! Once the blog is set up, there are a number of ways to get people to it – personally, I promote my blog on social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, etc. and I also have an SEO guy on my team that does a lot of internet marketing. It’s a slow process but definitely one worth pursuing! You start with just a few people a day to your site and the next thing you know you have a couple hundred, then a thousand, then… you get the picture. :) If you need help with anything specific just let me know!
