ListJoe.com Reviews – Is It Worth It?
I was exposed to the ListJoe safe-list service a little while ago and I’ve been running a lot of real world field tests using their service. Now, before reading this review please keep in mind that I did *not* upgrade my membership – I’ve been using the free membership. Obviously, with a paid membership the services you can use there are better and more frequent. Now, let’s get on with the List Joe review:
The concept of List Joe is simple. You create an ad that you can mail to other people who are supposedly entrepreneurs, home business reps, etc. that are registered on the site. The idea is that everyone can share their opportunity with others who are in similar businesses. When you first sign up, you get 3000 credits that you can use to send out an email to 3000 other people about your business, opportunity, etc. Once you’ve exhausted those credits (basically, 1 credit = 1 email recipient), you need to earn more credits and you can do this by reading other members’ emails that they send out and clicking a link in that email. It takes a while to accumulate credits as you typically get anywhere from 5 to 15 credits per email that you click the link in. I am currently receiving about 25-30 emails per day from List Joe’s other members. That equates to about 250-300 credits per day if you click them all. As you’re well aware, I’m sure, it takes a great number of emails to get a small number of people who will buy your product, opt-in to your mailing list, etc. I’m seeing about a 1% opt-in rate from my emails there, and currently NONE of those people have signed up with my business. I know it’s a numbers game, and given the amount of time needed to do this, I’ll probably keep doing it for some time. I personally enjoy simply collecting the leads for my CRM that I can possibly use for other opportunities down the road, so I’m not terribly worried about them signing up for my current opportunity – I view that as just a bonus. List Joe is free, after all, so I didn’t come into it thinking that I’d get rich from using it.
Now, the down and dirty.. here are some of the drawbacks that I see with this site:
- Free members can only send mass emails once every 7 days.
- You get a lot of emails sent to you from other members promoting their services.
- I know that I personally don’t read most of the emails that the other members send to me, I just click them to get credits. So one would assume that the other members are doing the exact same thing – not reading my website and just clicking-and-closing to get the List Joe credits.
- “Everytime I do a mailing, I get genuine signups to my business!” is something they advertise, but it’s simply not true. Like I mentioned earlier, I’ve yet to get one signup – and my solo ad is compelling and DOES work when used in other avenues of advertising.
That being said, take it with a grain of salt. The service is free if you want it to be and your results may vary. At this time, however, I would simply not recommend signing up for their paid service until I can see some results from the free service.
