  • I’m presented with new network marketing opportunities every day of the week through my various networking groups on Facebook, LinkedIn, emails, visitors to my blog here, etc. and typically I’ll give a company a good once-over and make an educated decision on if it looks like something interesting or not.  As many of you know, I’m a 4-Star Executive with Numis Network and soon to be 5-Star but that doesn’t mean that I won’t look at another opportunity when presented to me.  So this morning I was presented with the new network marketing company Zonital International.  It has all of the typical sales copy that most new network marketing companies have: “pre-launch”, “get in now to secure your position at the top”, “experienced founders”, etc.  It’s got it all.  I typically look through all of that and get right to the core of what the company is all about.

There is one thing, and one thing only, in particular that turned me off immediately to Zonital International.  It’s a weight loss/health and wellness company.  It’s true – people are and always will be trying to lose weight, but quite honestly there are just TOO many health and wellness MLM’s out there for me to think that I can be TRULY successful at them.  People are tired of being burned by these types of companies.  They may have tried one company, they may have even tried 4 or 5 of these types of companies and chances are, it just didn’t work out for them.  There’s also a pretty high probability that your target market (more likely than not, women – so right away you’re cutting out 50% of your prospects) have tried some sort of weight loss gimmick from a late night infomercial or something like that and have gotten burned on that, too.  These types of products and companies more often than not leave a bad taste in the consumer’s mouth.  Nothing personal against Zonital or their product – I don’t know the first thing about them or their weight loss pills – but I’m against the idea in general.  Health and wellness is just another “me-too” product.  There have been loads of MLMs based on this idea and there will always be the “next best business opportunity” that arises in this industry after Zonital is past their pre-launch stage that will be competing with it.

Sorry Zonital International, you look like you might have a good company  but unfortunately it’s just not one for me.

    1. Wow. That’s kind of a random skewer of a company about which you say you, “don’t know the first thing about them or their products”. For fairness to the readers and Google searchers out there, here’s some of the “first things” they could know:
      •  According to library index.com, 40% of women, and 25% of men are trying to lose weight.
      • Market research firm, MarketData, in their report, U.S. Weight Loss & Diet Control Market (10th Edition), the US weight loss market now totals $58.6 billion, up from $40 billion in 2003. That’s an incredible growth rate, and “pills and supplements are the second largest component after “low calorie foods” in the entire sphere.
      • From the US CDC, Approximately 17% of American adults use over the counter (non-prescription) weight-loss supplements at any given time.
      • According to market research firm, Markets and Markets (2010) “Despite economic crisis across the globe, the weight management market is still accelerating…”
      • On National Public Radio’s “marketplace” segment, in an interview with Helen Palmer, Bill Weiss, Professor of Management at Seattle University states, “The U.S. food industry produces about 3,800 calories of food a day for every American — twice what we need — then spends millions of advertising dollars persuading us to eat it. No wonder we’re chubby.”
Some of your estimates about the target and the market are inaccurate. It’s true, not everyone is in need of weight loss help, just 1-2 out of every 3 people reading.
As for the products, they are all-natural, formulated by a stellar US lab, and a mix of scientifically-proven ingredients, The newest additions coming in 8 weeks are also being formulated to meet, and will be submitted to, the NSF for safety and efficacy certification. These are no “miracle pills” filled with some buzzword ingredient. They’re the real deal.

    2. Dear Zonital Rep/Corporate PR person:

Thanks for your reply to my post! I appreciate hearing other sides of the story. Honestly, I really do. While I appreciate your rebuttal to my post – I don’t think you really understood my original post. I merely posted “why I did not join” when I was presented with the business opportunity. Don’t take it personally, it’s just my take on the situation. I just feel that there are far better opportunities out there right now than to compete in the “me-too” arena of health & wellness network marketing companies. Nothing personal against you, your company, or any other health & wellness MLM out there. I’m sure many of you are doing extremely well for yourselves in your respective companies. I just happen to enjoy being in an opportunity that doesn’t have any competition more than one that is surrounded by competition. Please also note that when I wrapped it up, I said that it looks like you may have a good company, it’s just not for me. :)
